Matthew Rowe is an artist, poet, and builder currently living on the Northern California Coast. His paintings are inspired by the landscapes he interacts with, by worlds in which he has lived—the vast and rural hollows of the Mojave Desert, the voracious speed and electricity of New York City, and all of the peculiar spaces in between. Working predominantly in acrylic, oil pastel and graphite, with loose—sometimes aggressive—intuitive brushstrokes, strikes, and markings, Matthew efficaciously expresses the nuances of the world around him in abstract form.
